digital supergrain
Sometimes when you use digital and you fuck it up. Like shooting 3200 iso and underexposing you get a whole sea of noise but I kind of like the look, its not so sterile which is still the issue with digital.
Like this all grainy picture after the last match in Germany where they put our trainer behind the glass.

Sommeranfang
"Blue Cheer released a cover of Eddie Cochran's classic "Summertime Blues," from their debut album Vincebus Eruptum, that many consider the first true heavy metal recording"

Not knowing what they feel
Anthony Minghella
I've just been listening again to KCRW'S Podcast of an Interview with Anthony Minghela and I found this quote:
"And I always think it's very interesting in a lot of commercial cinema: people know what they want, they know what they feel. They know why what happened to them happened to them. They understand themselves in a way that I never met anybody in the world understands why things happend. And I'm allergic to that and I'm allergic to a character ever knowing themselves."
This could be a fitting definition of any commercial production.
KCRW's film interviews held by Elvis Mitchel can be found on Itunes searching for "The Treatment". I try to miss not one of them.

For Driving on the I-10
I recommend:
Wipe Out from the Surfaris
My father played this to me when I was 6 or 8.
He was playing the drums and if you watch the Video version of the Ventures you know why he liked it:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=T8__EwAT8VM
I recommend the original of The Surfaris though because it has the essential "Wipe Out" vocals at the beginning:

CHarlotte Roche NY Times
Charlotte Roche in the NYTIMES with Wetlands/Feuchtgebiete.

interesting piece of statistic:
"... there are also measurable gender-equality problems in Germany, Europe’s largest economy. Of the 27 European Union members, Germany is tied with Slovakia as third worst in the wage gap between men and women, with women earning 22 percent less, a figure surpassed only by Cyprus and Estonia."
And
"Germans have been accused, on occasion, of overanalyzing. "
What? Us Germans? Overanalyzing?
No Kiddin'!

Sternenstaub

Fellini is the man
Anouk Aimée in Fellinis 8 1/2.
I took this movie along to the US
Its one of these artist film-in-film movies. Maybe the best one (I'm usually a bit sceptic about this genre). This one actually might have invinted the genre.
I really like the end sequence
and the portrait of Marcello Mastroianni as an artist who doesn't know what to do with his art (and life)
