Not knowing what they feel
Anthony Minghella
I've just been listening again to KCRW'S Podcast of an Interview with Anthony Minghela and I found this quote:
"And I always think it's very interesting in a lot of commercial cinema: people know what they want, they know what they feel. They know why what happened to them happened to them. They understand themselves in a way that I never met anybody in the world understands why things happend. And I'm allergic to that and I'm allergic to a character ever knowing themselves."
This could be a fitting definition of any commercial production.
KCRW's film interviews held by Elvis Mitchel can be found on Itunes searching for "The Treatment". I try to miss not one of them.
